Paraguay Locations......

Sandwiched between Argentina and Brazil, Paraguay is an introvert country often overlooked and ignored by the tourist hordes visiting South America. The Paraguay River divides the country into two contrasting regions; the Gran Chaco, or Paraguay Occidental, in the west and Paraguay proper, or Paraguay Oriental, in the east. A place to admire the beauty of nature, Paraguay offers an intriguing mix of natural attractions and colonial architecture. Unlike many of its neighbors, Paraguay is a comparatively safe destination. Once bigger than Buenos Aires, the capital, Asuncion is over 450 years old and known as the Mother of Cities. The city is an appealing mix of old and new. You'll see colonial structures dating back to nineteenth century, standing along with the new highrise buildings.

Undeniably the country’s main sights are the countless waterfalls, several national parks and of course the plains, swamps and forests of the Gran Chaco. Here you can also experience the real country life of the Paraguayan cowboys. Another interesting destination to be included in your itinerary is the ‘Central Circuit’, a route of some 200km that takes in some of the country’s most interesting sites, including the famous Iguazú and Monday waterfalls located near Paraguay’s fastest developing town, Ciudad del Este on the Brazilian border. To top it all, don't stop yourself to savor some of the best culinary delights. Typical local dishes include chipas (maize bread flavored with egg and cheese) and palmitos (palm hearts) and you can also enjoy a great choice of salads and fruits as well.
