Guyana Locations......

Perched on the north-east corner of the South American continent, Guyana stretches 450 miles from its long Atlantic coastline into dense equatorial forest and the broad savanna of the Rupununi. The name Guyana is an Amerindian word meaning Land Of Many Waters. Formally, a British colony, the country is a splendid combination of the Caribbean and South America, with fascinating touches of a sometimes turbulent past. The country is a mixture of rainforests, beaches, savanna and rivers that draws adventure tourists hoping to camp, trek, fish or perhaps be lucky enough to spot a jaguar. Another spectacular attraction is Kaieteur falls along the Potaro River. These are five times the height of Niagara falls and are located in the middle of an unspoilt rainforest.

The capital Georgetown is a beautiful city and the primary port of the country. It's striking wooden architecture is reminiscent of Guyana's centuries as a Dutch, and then a British colony. While you are here don't miss to visit the imposing St. George's Cathedral, reputed to be the tallest wooden building in the world. A place for for eco-tourists, adventure travelers and history buffs alike, the extraordinary wilderness of Guyana is an unforgettable experience.
