Central Circuit

About a 125 mile drive from Asunción, the Central Circuit is where you'll find Paraguay's most interesting historic and architectural sites. On your way via Route One, stop at the city of Ita and watch the experts crafting beautiful ceramic pottery. The next stop is the city of Yaguarón. It's a an orange-growing district where you can visit its temple, one of the greatest architectural relics of the Franciscan Missions.

Further east, one arrives at the city of Piribebuy, a historic place and the scene of some bloody fighting during the war of the triple alliance. You'll admire the unique handicraft work here. There's a swarm of cozy and comfortable places to rest on the outskirts.

The city of Caacupé, affectionately called the Religious Capital of Paraguay, can be accessed via Route II. There are many temples here, which are worth a visit. The tour continues through the cities located on the shores of the beautiful Lake Ypacaraí. San Bernadino is a stunning holiday resort teeming with tourists who come here for its beaches and beautiful shoreline. If you're an outdoorsy traveler, you won't miss the camping ground- 'Camping 19'. The city of Areguá is renowned for its natural wonders intricate handicrafts.

One can comfortably tour the Central Circuit in two days time, enjoying several hours at each stop, all located within a 60 mile radius from Asuncion.
